Environmental Commitment

Due to our commitment to responsible working practices the overall environmental impact of printing inks in terms of raw materials used and printed substrates are extremely low. However, Intercolor will continue to monitor the environmental needs of the industry and will strive to achieve continuous improvement and excellence in this area of ever growing importance.

The company intends to continue to develop its environmental standards within the framework of its ISO14001 and EMAS accreditation and our environmental statement explains exactly how this is being done.

Our approach centres around the following important aims:

▪ Encourage staff involvement in environmental issues through training, appropriate information, and participation exercises.

▪ Promote energy conservation by efficient use, careful planning and design with due regard to improved energy utilisation and appropriate investment in energy efficient measures.

▪ Minimise waste and ensure that there is effective control, which promotes recycling where possible and provides responsible disposal, particularly with regard to hazardous wastes.

▪ Promote environmentally responsible policies in all its commercial activities, including purchasing and investment.

▪ Strive to eliminate the release of pollutants, to be achieved by application of discharge controls, and also by initial assessment and continuing evaluation of the appropriateness of and need for any activity which could have an impact on the environment.

▪ Adopt an environmentally sound transport strategy.

▪ Adopt policies which take into account the visual impact of Intercolor’s activities; take into consideration the likely environmental effect of Intercolor’s activities and developments on the local community.

▪ Encourage similar environmental standards from all parties with whom we deal.

Unlike many companies Intercolor has been prepared to set measurable target and publish the figures so that our achievements can be monitored.

All Intercolor Inks are formulated in accordance with the company’s environmental policy and conform to the exclusion list for printing inks and related products EuPIA (European Printing Ink Association) October 2007.
